Meet The Board
This year the Board of Directors is working very hard to make the Tech JXN Film Festival 2021 memorable while celebrating the 25th Anniversary of John Grisham’s A Time to Kill.
Ms. Angie Thomas
is a Jackson native, activist, and author of the bestselling book, The Hate U Give, which inspired the movie by the same name, and her latest book, On the Come Up.
Attorney Dorsey Carson
is noted as one of America’s top 100 lawyers. He is also an actor and a long-time advocate for the City of Jackson.
Dr. Benjamin Wright
the Maestro, is an internationally renowned composer and arranger. He is responsible for charting the soundtrack of our lives with greats such as Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Aretha Franklin, and the Temptations to name a few.
Dr. Candice Love Jackson
a Jackson native, is an author and scholar of literature, film, and popular culture, who has taught at Tougaloo College, Southern Illinois University, and Jackson State University.
Mr. Sebastian Twardosz
is a founding member of Savant Artists and is an adjunct professor at the University of California—Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC) film schools.
Senator John Horhn
has served in the Mississippi Senate since 1994. Senator Horhn is a member of SAG-AFTRA, and is also a former Mississippi State Film Commissioner.
Dr. Tonea Stewart
has served in the Mississippi Senate a celebrated actress of film and television from Greenwood, Mississippi. She plays Gwen Hailey in A Time to Kill. She is Dean Emerita of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Alabama State University.
Mr. Ward Embling
is an actor and retired director of the Mississippi Film Office, having served for thirty years. Mr. Ward and his office was instrumental in making A Time To Kill a reality here in Mississippi.
